It'd be easy to assume that it's all got something to do with the meido, but there's no hiding it from someone with her observation skills. He's been refusing to really talk where other people could overhear, but maybe catching him late at night when most people are sleeping will do the trick?
She can find him easily, at least. He's just sitting outside, very definitely under dressed for the biting cold - he's hanging out not far from her house, actually, and it'd be easy to see from a window.
There's some pacing going on and he keeps looking at his phone. ]
